History
Late Shri Dongreji Maharaj laid the foundation stone of the hospital in September 1982. His auspicious presence and blessings were the motivation for this undertaking of service to society. Poona Hospital & Research Centre was established in 1985 under the aegis of the Rajasthani and Gujarati Charitable Foundation, a registered public charitable trust, with the aim of providing quality medical care at a reasonable cost to the public, and also to give free or concessional medical care to patients from the lower socio-economic strata. The hospital, which was established entirely through donations from local citizens, presently has 225 beds. Approximately 40% of them are general ward beds, mainly occupied by patients receiving medical care at a concession or free of charge. In gratitude to the religious gurus who inspired this endeavor into the field of medical service, it gives us great satisfaction to provide medical care to all Guru Maharaj's free of monetary consideration, in a separate wing specially set aside for them. Free health camps, outreach programs and medical education also form an integral part of the hospital functioning. |
