Dr. Shashank Shah is one of the most experienced surgeons in laparoscopic surgery who started in 2000 with bariatric surgery and he performed the first laparoscopic bariatric surgery of India in Poona hospital in Pune. After that time he performed huge number of procedures in Pune and also at other hospitals in India like: Delhi, Ahmedabad, Bangalore, Kolkatta, Mumbai and many other places. But Pune is his basis for bariatric surgery. Dr. Shashank Shah has trained over 100 surgeons in India and abroad.

Metasurg – International congress for bariatric surgery in India
Organized and set up years ago by dr. Shashank Shah Metasurg is the Indian Internationally congress in bariatric surgery and metabolic disorders. Metasurg has built up a large internationally reputation in the field of bariatric surgery and exchange of important medical data by international bariatric surgeons. General surgery in India
Although not known at most people in the world, India has one of the best reputations for medical education worldwide and general surgery in India is high class.

One of the reasons besides the world-class education is that all diseases and all surgeries have been performed in such high numbers that surgeons are extremely experienced. This has to do with the fact that India has the second highest number of inhabitants. We all know that the most complicated surgeries have been carried in India for many years.
